How to enable macro's on excel utility file downloaded from Income Tax Portal
We are in the process of filling Income Tax return before the deadline and there are many users still prefer to use the excel utility file provided by the Income Tax Department for filling the returns. However, the new excel security features does not allow the macros or the function to run properly.
The reason for this issue is primarily because of the changes brough by Microsoft in excel Macro setting and it's to prevent for getting the system corrupt or hacked by these programme.
Let's not too much worry about the reason but let's focus on solution for fixing the problem. If you follow the below instruction, you should be able to use the Excel utility file provided by the Income Tax department for filling the tax return.
- Step 1 - Download the file from the Income Tax portal (please don't download from any other website)
- Step 2 - Unzip the downloaded file and move it to a folder or a place which is easy for you to locate
- Step 3 - Right-click the file and choose Properties from the context menu.
- Step 4 - At the bottom of the General tab, select the Unblock checkbox and select OK.
- Step 5 - Close all the excel files and reopen the files. You will see the magic of everything working as it should be.
