Latest FIFA World Cup including 2022 Winners List
The FIFA World Cup, sometimes known simply as the World Cup, is an international association football championship contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of FIFA, the sport's worldwide governing organisation. The tournament has been staged every four years since the initial event in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946 when it was not conducted because to the Second World War. The defending champions are France, who won their second championship at the 2018 tournament in Russia.
The system includes a qualification round that lasts three years to select which teams advance to the tournament phase. During the tournament phase, 32 teams battle for the championship in locations around the host nation(s) over the course of roughly a month. The host country(ies) automatically qualifies.
