Google wants Google Auto app users to start using Assistant’s driving mode
Google reportedly closed the mobile version of Android Auto, according to a recent report. The Android Auto smartphone app is no longer compatible with any version of the Android operating system. In addition, the corporation has withdrawn this app from the Google Play Store. Users who have loaded the Android Auto app will now get a notice stating that the software "works solely with car screens right now." The prompt will also show customers how to link their phone to an Android Auto-enabled vehicle.
If you’ve been using the Android Auto app on your phone screen, you’ll need to switch to Google Assistant’s driving mode, a new integrated driving experience. If your car is compatible with Android Auto, you can still connect directly to your car’s display.
What's new in the App
- Improved Do Not Disturb functionality.
- Dark mode on car UI is now independent from the phone.

Indeed, Google said more than three years ago that it will no longer be upgrading the Android Auto phone app, and it appears that it took some time for the programme to be officially shut down. According to Google, customers can continue to utilise Google Assistant Driving Mode on their smartphones. Many of the same capabilities are available as with Android Auto on phones. Nonetheless, user feedback indicates that the Google Assistant Driving Mode is not a complete replacement for Android Auto.
