Microsoft Excel has been updated. One of the most frustrating parts of using it is now solved.. Microsoft has announced that it will be improving the scrolling experience in its Excel Desktop app. This is expected to result in a better user experience..

The new spreadsheet update, which has just been released for all users, should allow you to worry less about selecting the wrong cell during data-heavy tasks or losing important data in the middle of a task.

Smooth scrolling inside Microsoft Excel

At the moment, Excel can be frustrating to use due to its lack of smooth scrolling. However, Microsoft acknowledges the issue and is looking into possible solutions for this bug.

"Though you might think this is an easy fix, simply requiring the alteration of a few lines of code, there’s actually a lot more to it," In a blog post outlining the change, noted Microsoft engineer Steve Kraynak wrote

"In fact, we learned that this change affects many different aspects of Excel, including freezing panes, resizing rows, cutting and pasting, filtering, cell styles, comments, dragging and filling, and more."

Microsoft's newest update for your mouse wheel and scrollbars could result in smoother scrolling. They also note that both touch screens and touch pads already scroll smoothly, so this update is mainly for those without touchscreen or a touch pad.

Secondly you can now stop scrolling partway through a row or column, Excel no longer making you go any further than you want. This is more exciting stuff!

Microsoft released an update that includes a new scrolling functionality where users can drag the scroll bar to precisely control its position and stop wherever they like.
