Today in Youth Apps, we are going to explore a new mobile app called, ECHS Beneficiaries App. This app has been released by SourceDOTcom Pvt Ltd Medical and has an average rating of 4.1 in apps store as of today.
Features of ECHS Smart Card Mobile App
- Let's look at the feature of ECHS Beneficiaries App Mobile app, these features and content are from the developer of the mobile app itself, Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) was launched with effect from 01 April 2003. The Scheme aims to provide allopathic and AYUSH medicare to Ex-servicemen pensioner and their dependents through a network of ECHS Polyclinics, Service medical facilities and civil empanelled/Govt hospitals/specified Govt. AYUSH hospitals spread across the country. The Scheme has been structured on the lines of CGHS to ensure cashless transactions, as far as possible, for the patients and is financed by the Govt of India.
- The new Smart Cards are Dual interface (contact and contactless) with Fingerprint Biometrics authentication through Aadhaar based system. The new Smart Card will enforce authorised usage as per laid down policies of the ECHS scheme so that misuse and inappropriate usage is prevented. Policies governing the authorization of the ECHS benefits to the members will be enforced through application deployed for the Smart Card.
How can I find out difference between a 16Kb Card or a 32 Kb Card?
- Smart Cards issued upto Apr 2010 were of 16Kb capacity whereas Smart Card issued from May 2010 to May 2015 were of 32Kb capacity. The visual difference of both the cards as follows:
Salient Features of New Smart Card. The salient features of new ECHS Smart Card are appended below:-
- The physical submission of application for ECHS Smart Card has been done away with.
- ECHS beneficiaries can now apply online for Smart Card without visiting Regional Centres.
- The payment for Smart Card will also be done through online mode with options using Net Banking, Debit / Credit Card, Wallet Payments.
- The information regarding movement of online application till receipt of Smart Card from Station Headquarters will be intimated to beneficiaries through SMS updates.
- The new Smart Card is of the capacity of 64 Kb which can store vital information of the beneficiaries including their Medical History, Referral History, Medicine Issue Logs etc.
- In the new system, Kiosks are being deployed at ECHS Polyclinics which offers Biometric/Aadhaar/mobile based Authentication of beneficiaries, Selection of option for desired services through touch screen, Printing of Medical Slip/authentication slip and also helps in Queue Management.
- In the new system, Identification cum Authentication Terminals (ICAT) are being deployed at HCOs which also offers Biometric/Aadhaar/mobile based Authentication of beneficiaries

I was able to view the status of my mother's new ECHS card application which was very useful. Saved a lot of time which would have otherwise been spent making calls and even a personal visit to check the status. The contacts details per location provided are very detailed although I have not checked...
