Smart Bike has arrived in India and successfully used in Bohpal, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Vijayawada & Ranchi as of today by Smartbike Mobility Pvt Ltd in association with nextbike GmbH, Germany. Their aim to have Smart Bike rolled out across India and also in the Smart Cities which is being developed.
Smart Bike is handsome and pretty from the looks of the bike. Oops I forgot we are not describing the Smart Bike, we are going to take you through the process of registering, booking, hiring, renting and dropping. This also covers the charges and the extra money which you need to shell out if something happens to the bike. In my view this is not the right approach. Smart Bike company should have insured the smart cycle and should have added as a premium toward the usage charges or collected upfront and returned back once the smart bike is returned. Hope they look into this method of protecting the asset and also the customer satisfaction.

Download the SmartBike Mobility useful mobile app. This app has been released by SmartBike Mobility Maps & Navigation. Mobile Apps Developer of SmartBike Mobility has described the features as, Manage your account, redeem vouchers, get the latest SmartBike news, give feedback or contact our customer service team directly. To rent a bike, enter bike number or scan QR code. For return, simply select station or retrieve location via GPS. Just Download, Unlock & Go!
SmartBike is India's fastest growing Public Bike Sharing (PBS) system company in association with nextbike GmbH, Germany. SmartBike tied up with Hyderabad Metro Rail to setup Bike Stations in Hyderabad Metro Stations. In all there will be 500 bike stations with inventory of 10,000 Smart bikes in Hyderabad. SmartBike consortium which won the prestigious bid for setting up PBS system in New Delhi is aiming at covering most major cities in India soon.

How to Rent, Park & Return?
- REGISTER - Register yourself after downloading the SmartBike Mobility mobile application.
- RENT - Rent a bike easily via app: scan the QR code or enter the bike number. The frame lock opens automatically. You can use a single account to rent upto 4 bikes at a time.
- PARK - You can park your bike without stopping the rental. Activate the park mode in your app and close the lock afterwards. Simply deactivate it again to continue your ride. The locks opens automatically. Therefore do not deactivate the park mode from afar.
- RETURN - Return your bike at any official SmartBike station. Close the lock by pressing down the lever. Refresh your app to make sure the rental has been stopped. Check the map on the app for your nearest SmartBike station.
Tariffs
- First 60 Minutes - Rs.5 (Inclusive of Taxes)
- Every 30 Minutes - Rs.9 (Inclusive of Taxes)
Additional Charges
- SmartBike may make additional charges in the following circumstances:
- Collection fee if a bike is not left at or next to, a SmartBike docking station: Rs. 200 collection fee plus Rs.50 per km travel costs, depending upon the location.
- Damaged bike: Rs. 5000 or more based on the extent of damage.
Using the SmartBike through SmartBike App
- Open the SmartBike Mobile App and Login using your registered mobile number
- Enter the bike number and press "rent" or Scan the QR-Code which is on the bike
- You will receive the four-digit lock code via the app.
- Enter the lock code into the BikeComputer. The fork lock will then open automatically.
IN GENERAL: Enter the bike number - receive the four-digit lock code - open the lock.
The bikes have BikeComputers which allow you to directly enter the code on the bike.
You can use a single account to rent up to two bikes at once.
Using the SmartBike through BikeComputer
- Enter your phone number and PIN into the BikeComputer.
- Hold your customer card up to the BikeComputer.
- The fork lock will then open and you will receive the lock code for parking the bike via text message.
Rent bikes for groups of 8 people or more.
Return a bike
- Return the bike to an official station.
- Press OK on the BikeComputer and close the fork lock.
- Wait for confirmation.
IN GENERAL: Close the bike lock and confirm your return via BikeComputer. Bikes can only be returned at official stations.
Starting credit
- Before being able to take off on your first ride, you will first have to activate your customer account by verifying your means of payment (Credit Card or debit).
- You will be charged ₹1 for confirming your payment method, .
- After debit via Credit Card your customer account will be activated immediately. Debiting via credit transfer may take up to four days.
- You can change your means of payment at any time.
